1 cup sugar
1/2 tablespoon baking powder

In a bowl combine flour, sugar and baking powder. Add milk, margarine and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed till combined. Beat on high speed for 2 minutes. Add egg and beat 2 minutes more. Pour into greased and floured 9" round or square baking pan, top with peach slices and bake in a 375 F oven for 25 to 30 minutes or till a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for 10 minutes, remove from pan, cool thoroughly on wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, enjoy.
(This is half the recipe for Yellow Cake from the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook)

Well, I think I just have to go and bake another one. :)
